This design originated from my brother (IG @FoyFamCreations) to merge Pikachu from Pokemon and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. After seeing his layered decal with plain black and white, which looked so good, I wanted to put my own fanciful twist on it by using holographic vinyl for one of the two colors instead. My first iteration had holographic silver (instead of white) and matte black. I liked the look and wanted to see how this little cutie would look if I flipped it, using holographic for the black. I liked it so much that I decided to put him on a color changing cup!
To be completely honest, this was also a test for myself to see if I could layer the design and make it look decent. I’ve been trying to practice my layering more lately as I’ve seen so many other creators do such complex layering with so many more colors. They’ve created perfect renditions of Disney and Marvel characters, floral designs, and the ever-so-popular Starbucks cups. Of course after seeing it time and time again, I’d want to give it a go myself. While this isn’t my first foray into layering, it certainly was one of the more fun designs completed so far!
