So much vinyl…hard to keep track…
As I do more and more projects, I find myself gravitating to some supplies that have been used before and being unable to locate it. It’s only then do I realize that I am out and cannot for the life of me remember the brand or color name to be able to reorder. Slowly, I started creating these swatch pages to help avoid that in the future. I’ve been putting these pages together, using the brand’s website for reference to keep blank spaces in between to add colors for each particular style that I have not yet purchased (like in this picture, you can see I’ve only purchased seven opals from TeckWrap Craft, but they offer thirteen colors in opal).
The idea is each time I get a new vinyl I haven’t used before, I do a sample cut with this cute little swirl design from Cricut Design Space in order to make sure I know what setting will work best, but also to keep on a gridded page with the brand, style, and color so I don’t forget what it is in the future. It has also helped immensely in being able to identify which vinyl was used previously, especially when there are some vinyls that look so similar. Being able to hold the project up to the swatch page has been insurmountably helpful in identifying what I’ve used in the past.
I’m still trying to devise a reasonable system for htv, but haven’t been able to thing of anything outside of similar cuts on a tea towel. I’m also stuck on how to best label those. But that’s an issue for future me. Future me can have fun with all that.
