Hello Friends and welcome to another episode of…wait, nope, that’s not me…

When first seeing this cute little heart design in Cricut Design Space‘s World of Hearts image pack, I kept hearing DarkFluff from YouTube. It seems silly, but this Hello Friends sign reminds me of moments of free time listening to Reddit stories on YouTube, which brings me a little joy. So now this Hello Friends sign is on a shelf in my craft room to continue bringing little moments of joy.

Cutting Multiple Colors on One Mat

I’ve done this in the past and find that it saves time for smaller projects with multiple layers. Here’s a quick look at how I did it:

When looking at my project on the canvas, I keep all layers separate colors to avoid confusion on later steps.
After clicking the Make It button, I view each design element on the separate mats. When you click on the element, three dots appear at the top left.
Click on the three dots and select ‘Move Object’. This window will appear asking to which mat to move the object. I always move to the first mat, but the choice is yours based on your preference. Click the Confirm button.
Initially, the design element will be placed at the top left corner of the mat, which is on top of the design element already there. By clicking and dragging the element, you can position it to wherever you’d like on the mat based on where you place the vinyl on the physical mat.
Make sure that the vinyl on the mat matches the position of each design element on the computer screen. All elements can now be cut in one pass instead of five!

Putting It Altogether

This design took a bit of forward thinking to put together without accidentally sticking it to my desk like previously. When first assembling the elements, I did not know to what it was going to be applied. So I was putting it altogether on transfer tape instead of a chosen surface. I used two pieces of parchment paper this time: one to keep underneath the entire design and a second smaller piece to use as I normally do ever since learning this technique.

Almost immediately after putting it all on transfer tape to save for later, I found a previously purchased IKEA cutting board that was a good size for a little shelf sign. Sure, If I had known prior that I would be using the cutting board for application, I could have saved myself a few minutes by applying each element directly onto the board. But that’s ok! Knowing that I can do this in two different ways just helps me feel more confident in my crafting ability.
