Another HTV Project
Even though I’ve done this design before on an artist trading card (back before I started this blog), I wanted to give it another go. I was not disappointed with this cute cat mask that resulted. I couldn’t help but do it in one of the new soft metallic HTVs from TeckWrap Craft.
The design for this cat face mask is a total of three inches tall, so it was definitely a lot of detail in a small space. The design is part of Cricut’s Design Space. I always recommend looking through the designs readily available before purchasing SVGs from other sources to find little gems like this cat mandala. Just remember, designs on Design Space are only licensed for personal use. You will need to purchase SVGs with commercial license allowance or create your own if you intend to sell products.
This cat face mask took a total of an hour to weed and apply onto the mask. All in all, not terrible given its complexity and teeny tiny pieces. But I would hesitate to make another one like it.
HTV Must Haves
This cat face mask project provided the perfect opportunity to use my new Cricut Easy Press Mini for the first time. This little sucker is a handy little tool! It heats up quickly and evenly and doesn’t have a ton of buttons that would sometimes lead to confusion for operation/use. There’s only one button that does all it needs to do: power on, turn up the temperature (three settings available), and power off. Simple and easy!
The second very handy tool used for this project is the cooling block from Heat Transfer Source (HTS). I’ve used this block for other projects in the past, but don’t think I took time to talk about it and its usefulness. While it may seem like just a polished block of marble, HTS took time to make a block that is easy to handle and maneuver. The top is clearly marked and all of the edges are bevelled to avoid scraping.
You’ll notice that one corner of mine is broken and others are chipped. This sucker will not break your floor tile should it accidentally fall from a high shelf onto the floor. The floor will beat the hell out of your cooling block. SMH I can’t complain though as it still serves its purpose well. Just…don’t drop it. LOL
