Keeping it Simple Today

Once again, I am here, up late at night (or way too early in the morning) when I should be asleep. However I found some super motivation today so I am going to keep going. I’ve spent some time this week working on improving my work flow and reevaluating more of what works best for me when it comes to staying organized and keeping productive. Instead of missing three post days in a row, I thought it best to make a little something to say I’m still here and thank you for sticking with me. This opal holographic owl will be affixed to my work space soon.

Cut Setting

As always, remember that the specified settings are specific to the Cricut Maker. For a reference guide to cut pressures for each Cricut setting, check out this handy chart:

Making Things Better

This opal holographic owl was my first using the new camera for filming the process video and it has certainly been an adjustment. I am used to my phone keeping the video in one, extremely large video file. This has made it difficult when transferring files from my phone to the computer. The GoPro keeps the video file just at 4gb, separating the video into segments or chapters. It did make for file transfer MUCH easier. I did have to learn a new technique with Adobe Premiere Pro to color correct multiple clips at once. Luckily it was pretty simple once I found how to add an adjustment layer.

What I need to work on with the new camera is improving my lighting set up. The current light set up works well with my phone, but not as well with the GoPro. I have a new ring light that I have not yet tried using, so I may see if using it in addition to or in place of the other lights will help. The biggest problem with this process video was that the lower half of the vinyl was pretty blown out with less contrast than the top half. If I can correct that issue, video quality will definitely improve. Fingers crossed!

Work Flow

Up to this point, I will focus on one project at a time from start to finish: cutting, weeding/filming, post processing, and posting to all socials and blog. Then I move on to the next project and do it all again. I recently purchased some slim storage cases from Michael’s that I realized I could put project pieces in once cut. It made me realize that it could be more productive to cut multiple projects within the same day, then do the rest later on in the week. Making the little opal holographic owl is my first step into the new work flow process.

I took about a week to rethink how I do things and try to come up with a better, more productive way of doing things. I think that the changes I am implementing will help with that. Once I’ve used this new ‘system’ for a while, I will certainly do another blog post to highlight it all. I’m really excited about the potential for it and the possibility of getting ahead on my crafting rather than keeping late nights editing and posting. I know my watch would be happy for me to get more sleep.

I May Be a Tad Obsessed

It didn’t occur to me until recently how much vinyl I have on hand. It also didn’t register how much I prefer the TeckWrap Craft brand over others. After purchasing two over the door vinyl storage pouches from Michaels, I reorganized my vinyl. It wasn’t until I did this (below), that I realized how much TeckWrap vinyl there is altogether. I may have a slight obsession. What’s sad is that the second vinyl holder is almost half full…also with TeckWrap Craft. Their mystery boxes have been my utter weakness lately. I really should stop getting those. LMAO

On the plus side, I shared this picture to Instagram and TeckWrap not only liked it, but shared it to their page. I thought it was pretty funny and a bit ironic that they shared my post to advertise a new vinyl being released…which of course I had to order. SMH Way to get me there, TeckWrap!
