Feeling Those Tropical Vibes
I know that it is still spring, but how awesome is this summer tropical vibe? This sea star is nestled among color changing hibiscus blooms and holo greenery. The decal measures 11.5 inches both wide and long. This design was fun to make and to assemble as it is not the typical layering type project that I do.
Cut Settings
As always, remember that the specified settings are specific to the Cricut Maker. For a reference guide to cut pressures for each Cricut setting, check out this handy chart:
- Glossy green holo vinyl: premium outdoor vinyl setting with more pressure
- Pink to purple color changing vinyl: holographic sparkle vinyl setting with more pressure
- Grafitti rainbow sparkle vinyl: holographic sparkle vinyl setting with more pressure
After some struggles before with the pink to purple color change vinyl, I made sure to step up the pressure this time.I should have detailed my struggle before when I made the layered heart, but didn’t for some reason. The color change layer of the layered heart design was cut four separate times. Each time the cut was not quite enough to cleanly cut the design. I remembered the struggle from then to make sure I didn’t have it again.
Editing the Design a Tad
The sea star design from Creative Fabrica came as a downloadable svg file. When it was uploaded to Cricut’s Design Space, a lot of the design elements were separate layers. I needed to at least attach them to make sure it would be easy to layer for the final decal. Originally, all of the design was supposed to be one color. I took the attaching as a chance to ‘add a little bit of spice’ to make some of the elements pop.
Luckily for me, the leafy parts were already all welded together. Other than the sea star and its outline, the rest of the elements were made to be pink, attached, and grouped together to make for easy editing if the design needed resizing.
The Finished Look
Once again, this decal is one that can look quite different when the flowers are one color or another. I best like it when the flowers are fading from the purple back into the pink. It gives the flowers a lovely look that seems to add a bit more life to the overall project.
