Feeling Vacay Vibes

Who else needs some vacay vibes already this year? *Raises Hand* Well, folks, we made it six days of relative normalcy. That’s something, right? While I continue daydreaming about a vacation that may never come, I got to zone out while making this layered hibiscus decal.

Honestly though, this design was chosen to try out some new TeckWrap vinyls. One thing I love about ordering from TeckWrap Craft is that they include samples of their newest products for customers to try. These shimmer adhesive vinyls are pretty and good for layering. Given the tropical feel of the colors, I knew the layered hibiscus would look great!

New Vinyls

The new vinyls are the first time I’ve been really excited to use glittery adhesive vinyls. Most of the time, glitter/shimmer vinyls are rough. While they look great under the right light, it’s hard to layer on top of them, leading to less versatility. To my surprise and excitement, TeckWrap Craft rectified the complaints I had about working with other shimmer vinyls.

When putting the new shimmer vinyls next to the Cricut brand shimmer vinyls, they look quite similar in terms of sparkle. The Cricut brand is thinner and more flexible, but rough to the touch. TeckWrap Craft’s shimmer has a smooth coating over the top, creating a smooth surface which is very easy to layer other vinyls on top of it. The smoothing coat on the vinyl does make the vinyl a bit thicker, but I found it is still easier to cut on the Cricut Maker using the custom TeckWrap Craft setting. This stuff also weeds like a dream!
