Sometimes Simple Is Good

Most of my projects are more on the complicated side: multiple layers, super shiny vinyl combinations, extreme amounts of weeding, etc. But today, I just wanted to create and keep it simple. Simple has a beautiful elegance to it.

Honestly, there isn’t much to say about this project specifically, but I find that a bit refreshing. There were no issues cutting the vinyl and no problems during weeding (we won’t count where my phone stopped filming). I was able to cut it, weed it, and enjoy a finished project all within 20 minutes. With the size and complexity of projects most times, anything under an hour seems super quick to me.

Filming With My Phone

I’ve mentioned before that I currently use my phone for filming projects. I currently have an iPhone 12 Pro that I use to film in 4K at 60 frames per second (fps). I find that the high quality and high frame rate makes for a smoother editing process in post production. This also means that file sizes are substantial in size.

Normally, I use cloud sync to move videos from my phone to my desktop and backup storage, label and file them by date and project name, then remove the raw footage from my phone. The past several weeks, however, I have not had access to my desktop or backup storage. I find as a blogger and having a social media presence, it’s super important to keep the raw footage for each project whether I choose to showcase it or not. It ensures that I continue to own and possess my own intellectual property.

Fortunately, I will soon once again have access to my regular post production processing methods and be able to once again have more than enough room on my phone for filming. To say I cannot wait to have storage space free on my phone again is an understatement. I did not realize just how much space everything else uses!

Keeping It Regular…NOT

I haven’t (and will not) say much about anything going on, but I know it’s noticeable (especially by now) that my regular schedule is not a thing right now. Unfortunately sometimes life comes around to really kick us hard to make sure we pay attention and that’s what it’s doing right now. For the time being, I have been unable to regularly access a Cricut, supplies, or space in which to craft and film.

I’m realizing more and more how fortunate I am in having such a significant amount of space dedicated to crafting and filming. Being able to spread out like I normally to, especially when it comes to the big projects, is something that I miss quite a bit. Luckily, circumstances are not permanent and there will be a time when I can get back to using my own space. Until such a time comes around, my schedule will be pretty fragmented and sporadic. I apologize for that and am doing everything in my power to keep it as normal as possible.

YouTube Has Returned

I am not entirely sure I mentioned before, but last week I received a notification from YouTube that my channel had been deleted. The email, which was vague to say the least, stated that the channel had several severe community guideline violations that resulted in the channel being removed from the platform. This was initially a pretty devastating shock as I had never received any kind of notification of any community guideline violations. After the shock and upset settled, I felt more frustration than anything and determination to do whatever I could to rectify it.

It took a total of a week to successfully get my channel restored, but it did happen!! I am so glad that I can continue to make extended edits of process videos for anyone who wants to see a more detailed view of how I do each project. My last few projects will not end up having a YouTube version only because I found it frustrating trying to edit a video for a platform that may or may not be available to use. Fortunately since it has been restored, I can continue making process videos for YouTube again, starting with next week’s posts!
