Pleasantly Surprised
I’ll be honest…I did not expect this eclipse mandala design to be anything super spectacular. It’s a beautiful design and I knew it could be ‘jazzed up’ with some sparkly vinyls. What was not expected was how stunningly ‘rainbow-y’ and sparkly it turned out. It was a design that is beautiful and becomes even more so with each added layer.
Each Step Was Oh So Pretty
When layering this eclipse mandala design, I seriously contemplated stopping a few different times. Each layer just added a little more umph to the overall decal and it was hard to imagine it getting better…but it did each time.

After adding the first two layers together, I almost stopped right then and there. I will most definitely have to remember this vinyl combination in the future since they are so pretty together.

After adding the second to last layer, I once again contemplated stopping, wondering if there was any way it would possibly be any better than it was at that point. I admit I was a bit hesitant about incorporating the lake blue glossy shimmer vinyl, but I’m glad I did so. It really gave the design a nice color break that is simple enough, yet still stunning in a way due to the shimmer effect it has when viewing it closer up or in sunlight.
Opal AND Holographic AND Translucent
It has been used for a few projects now such as the newest version of the owl mandala, so no surprise to once again see the geometric vinyl in use.
What I did not know when first ordering this vinyl is that it is translucent. At times, it can be fun to use when layering as it will mix and kind of take on the color underneath it. I’ve learned from my mom’s past fail that you have to be careful what it is layered on as it will sometimes appear brown instead.
Last time, I mentioned a swatch page that I started using for project planning and testing vinyl combinations. It was handy for this project to ensure that the geometric vinyl would not end up looking muddy. The swatching for project planning is definitely paying off and will continue to be a method I use for future projects.
