Never have truer words been spoken. When I saw this design in a pack of SVGs, I laughed and thought “yeah that sounds like me”. With our move coming up in three weeks, I thought it’d be nice to go ahead and cut this one out and get it layered so I could apply it to plexiglass later for a custom sign in my new craft space. As I made it, I cussed…the whole time…just like it said I would. I should have listened to the warning I suppose.
This project was proudly made with using only scraps, thanks to the organization from a earlier last month. It really has saved me a lot of time and materials. I was even able to arrange all of the individual pieces onto one mat so it could cut quicker, saving even more time. Had I been on the iPad, I could have used the SnapMat feature. But since I was using my laptop instead of the iPad, I made each element the same color then rearranged them in the preview screen according to how the pieces were laid out on the mat. It was all going so well! I was really happy with progress so far.

Once it was all cut, I started weeding it all with no trouble at all…until I got to the blue peacock piece. The original plan I had for the design was to have the strait banner of the design in glossy silver holo with the words cut out and the peacock blue opal underneath so the words could be read. Well, I misaligned the vinyl on the mat a bit and the peacock blue banner piece didn’t cut. I’m still optimistic at this point thinking “Oh that’s ok; I’ll use a couple small scrap pieces and just layer them directly beneath the words so it still shows through.”
When I started putting it all together, things went south…fast. I was able to use parchment paper to line up the first part and second part of the design. Yeah, we’re on a roll, let’s keep going! Line up the drop shadow for the word QUIT perfectly. Use my little scraper from TeckWrap to get it all in place…AND STUCK THE TOP PART STRAIGHT ONTO THE SURFACE OF MY DESK!
SMH
What isn’t shown in the process video on the IG post is the 25 minutes of me spewing every word in existence as I use a weeding hook to get all of the pieces off my desk and back onto the transfer tape where it belongs. Oh the humanity why oh why did I not put the parchment paper underneath? You know damn well that I made sure not to make that mistake again.
After that was again smooth sailing until I reached the point of using the small scrap pieces for the straight ribbon backing. First piece went on perfectly like a champ. The second piece, well I trimmed it to be too small. Now to find another piece. Too small, too small, too small, too big. Well too big means I can cut it to size. Whoops cut it to be a hair too small. Try again, this time it works. Aww crap it went on crooked. Pry it off carefully with tweezers. Place it back down and luckily this time it works.
Whew!!! It took much much MUCH longer than it should have, but it is done. Just like the sign says, I didn’t give up. But you know I CUSSED THE WHOLE F*$!#%& TIME!!!
