Making Pretty Things
Ever since making the layered lotus mandala a little over a month ago, I’ve been wanting to use the vinyl combo again because it was just so stunning. After flipping through some designs, I felt that the combo would be perfect for a little unicorn magic. Hopefully it was the right call (I think it was). Of course, I also had to be a little more ‘extra’ and make this a huge decal. The finished project measures just under 15 inches across and 11 1/2 inches tall.
Can you believe there was only one problem?
Unlike so many other projects, I only had one (albeit significant) problem occur…right aa I was finishing. When removing the transfer tape to reveal the shiny brilliant unicorn magic, I accidentally pulled too hard at the end and ripped the front hoof clean off from the design. SMH It’s always something, isn’t it? LOL
Luckily for me, the fix was pretty easy. Using my trusty pair of sharp ended tweezers from the three piece set in the products used list, I was able to successfully remove the hoof from the transfer tape and replace it onto the backing paper with the rest of its body. Crisis averted! Naturally, I laughed like a crazy person when it happened. Something always seems to go wrong at one point or another. I guess it’s just in my nature. But at least others can learn from my mistakes. They happen and most often can be fixed.
New Parchment Paper
In the past, I’ve used the unbleached parchment paper since it was what I had on hand most days. Ever since the heart rainbow, I’ve been wanting to instead use a white parchment paper to help designs look better when being photographed. I ordered the smart grid parchment paper from Amazon and honestly, I will probably use this product for the foreseeable future! I love the grid on the paper as a measurement assistant and as a cutting guide when using scissors.
