October 10, 2020: Dia de los Muertos

Just Creatin’

Sometimes, the need to create is just too great and needs to be satisfied. That is one reason why this beautiful Dia de los Muertos design was created. I first saw it in a promotional email from Design Bundles and then in an ad on Instagram. It was such a stunning design that I obsessed over it for almost a week before breaking down and getting it. I purchased this design, created by Paper Panda and sold as part of a paper craft bundle.

There are so many other designs that were included in the bundle, so expect to see more layered designs and more mandala designs in the very near future. They’re just so beautiful!

But So Much More

Dia de los Muertos is traditionally celebrated in Mexico and has such a fascinating history. Such beautiful traditions are observed during the holiday and I encourage everyone to learn more about it. People often associate Dia de Los Muertos with the Halloween ‘spooky season’ since the literal translation is Day of the Dead. It really is so much more than just a spooky holiday.

To Weed or Not to Weed

Honestly, this project was more about creating a beautiful piece in beautiful vinyl. When I say I kind of obsessed over it for a little while, I am not exaggerating. Each time another ad for this bundle popped up, I wanted to make this Dia de Los Muertos design. I just KNEW it would look stunning in TeckWrap Craft vinyl. As many who read frequently know, I have a slight (translated – REALLY REALLY BIG) obsession with their holographic and opal vinyls, especially after the most recently received order.

Sometimes I do question whether or not to create projects with no intended purpose. Then I think better of it and do it anyways. What’s the harm in creating to have fun? Besides, I always like having completed projects on hand for when someone shows an interest in something that I can give as a gift.
